Field Survey Technician – Underground Utilities

The Field Survey Technician – Underground Utilities will be tasked with working outdoors in teams of two (2) to inspect and survey utility manholes as detailed in our inspection procedures for the planning and design of telecommunication networks. The following tasks will be required:
  • Daily travel for fieldwork (in a car or on foot) to the network locations;
  • Plan the day’s work according to the inventories to be done and utility structures to be visited with the technician in charge;
  • Record the elements surrounding the manhole;
  • Pump, if necessary, the manhole to insure a safe and high-quality inspection;
  • Enter the manhole to record the necessary data (measurements, evaluate condition of asset);
  • Inspect all of the manhole elements according to the technical requirements and regulations;
  • Perform the inventory of the manhole elements with the use of a 360 camera and record the required information;
  • Secure the team’s work environment and apply proper traffic control;
  • With the use of a laptop or tablet, enter all data surveyed on-site and provide it to our offices for quality control/assurance;
  • May be assigned other tasks if needed.
The job will be performed in Toronto or Montreal, according to the candidate's location.


From one to two years of pertinent experience


No pre-requisite, but studies in civil engineering, geomatics, land surveying and/or topography will be considered an asset


  • Driver’s license
  • Confined spaces training (asset)
